Marlena Lyn Chumo

California artist, painter and photographer Marlena Chumo focuses on joy… the delight of life in constant bloom. As a landscape painter, the ebb and flow of seasonal energy and change is a constant focus. As a portrait artist, portraying the wonderment of the human experience is her steadfast commitment.

Marlena's award winning flora and fauna works have been featured in exhibitions in upscale galleries throughout the country. Marlena's passion for painting landscapes led to her zeal for photography, where she began this career while traveling. Marlena's enthusiasm for truly seeing the essence of life throughout a diverse selection of settings remains the inspiration for her art today.

As a portrait artist, Marlena's broad focus quickly expanded into a more personal setting. Her interest in capturing the diverse and highly individual personalities of people, particularly children and families, is her consummate focus. Marlena strives to memorialize the essence of the individual human experience in the most candid, personal, intimate and cherished way possible.

In addition to painting and photography, Marlena is a collector of art and antiques. She collects 19th century paintings, antique furnishings/accessories and art museum and artist books from around the world. Born in Santa Monica on the day U.S. astronauts first walked on the moon, Marlena grew up in Pacific Palisades and currently lives in West Los Angeles. She holds a variety of degrees, including a BA in History from Tulane University (concentrations in the High Roman Empire and Victorian England), and an MBA (concentration in Marketing) from Pepperdine University.

Marlena is also an avid philanthropist, and has been involved with the National Charity League and ARCS, an organization that raises money for arts and science scholarships.
